Cookie Policy

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of text your browser stores at a website's request. Cookies can hold things like your login state, your language preference, or — in our case — a short-lived token proving that the request came from a real browser.

What cookies we set

This site sets exactly one cookie of its own:

  • cloaker_verified. A cryptographically signed verification token used on specific pages to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic. It contains no personal information. It is scoped to this domain, marked HttpOnly, and expires after one hour. It is not shared with third parties and is never used for advertising or tracking across sites.

What cookies we don't set

  • No analytics cookies (we are not running Google Analytics, Matomo, or similar).
  • No advertising cookies (we don't run display ads on this site).
  • No social-media tracking pixels.
  • No cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.

Third-party cookies

Cookies from third-party services we integrate with (such as Google Fonts) are governed by those third parties' own cookie and privacy policies. As of the date above, we are not deliberately loading any third-party resource that sets persistent cookies on our visitors.

How to control cookies

All modern browsers let you block, delete, or manage cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data.

Blocking our one verification cookie will not prevent you from reading any article on this site. It may prevent you from reaching certain specific landing pages on first visit, but those pages have alternate entry points through the main navigation.

Changes to this policy

If we begin using additional cookies (for example, if we start running analytics), we will update this page and flag the change in the "Last updated" date above.
